From 23 September 2026, all endorsement holders remain endorsed under the Arms Act 2026. Any conditions that apply to endorsements under the new Act take effect from that date.
If you applied for an endorsement before 23 September 2026 and your application has not yet been completed, it will continue to be processed under the new Act.
You do not need to submit a new application form. However, you may be asked to provide additional information if it is required to process your application.
What about permits to import?
Licence holders will see new terminology on permits to import and may be asked to provide additional information about their import when their application is processed. An import permit is now required for additional and new items that have been introduced in the Arms Act 2026. We’ll have more details about this in the future.
If you have a permit issued before 23 September 2026, the permit remain valid and may continue to be used.
